The last Saturday of Women's History Month is SWAN Day and The Georgetown Theatre Company is hosting an all-day SWAN Day event in Lower Georgetown!

We begin with brunch at La Ruche, 1039 31st Street, NW -- 11:00am-1:00pm -- $15 brunch -- complimentary champagne

At 1:00pm we go around the corner to Grace Church (1041 Wisconsin Ave., NW) and to Barnes & Noble (M and Thomas Jefferson Streets) where the artsy-ness begins in earnest with theatre and fiction -- FOR FREE! There will be scenes, readings of poetry, readings from novels, monologues, visual art and staged readings of two plays.

  • a fully-staged scene from TGTC's next Fringe show, R.L. Nesvet's The Girl in the Iron Mask.

  • 3 "one-woman shorts" (short, one-character plays) What Stays, What Goes; Marjorie's Apple Pie Filling; I'll Start Over

  • a staged reading of Memory of Damage by Lori Fischer.

  • a section of the novel, Forbidden Loves: Paris Between the Wars, read by the author, Patricia Daly-Lipe

  • a 10 -minute play, Cold Reading by Juliana Avery.

  • a solo act by Helen Hayes nominee, Rebecca Herron

  • a super-short, two-person play, Spider Man by Juliana Avery

  • poetry readings by DC Poets Melissa Tuckey, Sarah Browning and Teri Ellen Cross

  • a staged reading of Embody, a full-length play by Lauren Gunderson.

  • a short work by humorist Lisa Alapick

  • Curvy by Nature, sketch comedy by Kristen Cantwell and Leah Young

  • a display of drawings by artists Talia Greenberg and Carol Morgan and paintings by Joy Nathan

  • Tours of artist Katherine Kyle's studio

    BONUS: There will be Name-That-Woman-Artist games with nifty prizes!

    All the plays and fiction are by emerging women writers.
